This past fall I went to Europe to skate on the Nitro Circus Live tour. This was by far the gnarliest tour we had done! We did 13 shows in about 2.5 weeks. We were basically in a different city and or country every day. There were times when we would have 4 shows in a row before a day off. Then the days we did have off were packed with fun awesome activities, it was quite the world wind to say the least!
Anyway they filmed us the whole time and turned it into a TV show. Tune into MTV2 Tuesday nights at 11/10c to see a behind the scenes look at all the shenanigans that went down on tour!

Volcom skate team rider Leticia Bufoni brought the crowd to its feet when she won gold in Women’s Skateboard Street in the first stop of the Summer X Games in Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil. This competition brought together some of the best skaters in the world, including Bufoni who was almost forced to withdraw from the competition due to a serious ankle surgery only a month ago. This was a huge win career wise, but she was more excited to have gotten the chance to represent and skate in front of her native land of Brazil. The next stop for Leticia will be the Women’s skate Park in Barcelona before heading to the last stop of the X Games in Los Angeles. More on the event from skate legend and teammate Lyn-z Adams:

This was my first time to Brazil. I got to go to X Games in Foz Do Iguacu to essentially watch my husband race Rally Cross but of course I was stoked to watch all my friends compete in all the other sports/disciplines. As you may or may not know I’m pregnant so I’m not skating right now. Anyway X Games expanded this year into 6 global events, two winter and 4 summer. The winter already happened and Volcom Girls team riders Elena Hight and Sarka Pancochova ended up with 3 silvers between the two of them! So awesome. There was Women’s Skate Street here in Brazil, there will be Women’s skate Park in Barcelona, no Women’s skate events in Germany, and for the final stop in Los Angeles, CA there will be Women’s Street again. Although they didn’t bring back Women’s skate vert like I normally skate it’s pretty cool that there are more and more women’s skate events and women’s skate park for the first time that I would have skated if I didn’t have a bundle of joy on the way. Another awesome thing they are doing for the women this year is “Real Women” a video part contest with 2 skaters, 2 snowboarders, 2 skiers, and 2 surfers. I was also picked for this but had to pull out when I found out I was preggo. They will be releasing the videos online next month for voting so be sure and vote for Volcom Girls Leticia Bufoni and Coco Ho. It’s a pretty cool event, they will get prize money and metals for fan votes and an actual panel of judges will also pick a 1st – 8th as well.
Women’s skate street was packed with awesome skaters including my buddy and Volcom Girls team rider Leticia Bufoni. She is a crowd favorite with a two silvers and a bronze under her belt and also from Brazil so she was the star of the show! She just had ankle surgery a month ago! But was still skating better then ever. Such a trooper to push threw the pain. They started out with two heats of girls and gave them a set amount of time to go one at a time for 45 seconds or until they fell twice. They judged them on their single best scoring run. Leticia won her heat moving onto the finals. She is a very well rounded skater. She really used to whole course well, using the transition sections, stairs, rails, ledges, and wedges with a very stylish flow. 3 of the 6 girls in the final were Brazilian witch is really cool as I had never even heard of some of them. I like seeing the progression of the sport!
When it came down to the final Lacey Baker was in the lead most of the time. Leticia went last in the line up and ended up wining by over a point with her final run! It was so cool to see the crowd go wild and see how stoked my friend was to win her first X Games Gold! Can’t wait to watch her skate the park event in Barcelona Spain next month!
I forgot to mention that Foz Do Iguacu is home of some of the biggest most beautiful waterfalls in the world. The vert ramp was actually located above some of them with an incredible view! We went on a boat trip around the bottom of the falls. It was crazy to see. There was the most vibrant gorgeous rainbow. They actually drove us right under part of the falls literally soaking us! It was quite the experience. Although I found it most spectacular seeing them from the vert ramp since you could see all of the layers and the magnitude of how big they actually are!
