The first weekend of Coachella 2012 was the best weekend of my life thus far. The weather was absolutely perfect. I mean come on, when has it ever rained at Coachella?  My favorite performances were SebastiAn, Feed Me, The Black Keys, Childish Gambino (absolutely brilliant and did the whole show with a broken foot), AWOLNATION, Bon Iver, Radiohead, First Aid Kit, Flux Pavilion & Dr. P, and my favorite performance of all time was Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg.  Now let me preface this by saying I am a HUGE old school hip hop and rap lover so this show was like an out of body experience for me.  The fact that Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg was already exciting for me but when they brought on Eminem, 50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa, and THEN a hologram of Tupac I lost my shit.  I literally started crying.  I grew up with Tupac always playing in my house and he has been such a huge part of my life. Seeing him there like that was incredible.  Everything about that weekend was beyond perfect.  The weather was perfect, the performances were amazing and I got to experience it all my closest friends. This is my last Coachella while I am still living in California but I will definitely be flying out next year!

Not to say that fashion still doesn’t play a major role in my life but throughout my life I have had the opportunity to meet and befriend some pretty amazing people. Yves Muya is one such person and I would really like to introduce you to him. Often you can know someone and know a bit about them, where they come from or went to school and sometimes you find out someone’s story and are forever changed.

Yves became a friend of our family a year ago, he had been the spokesperson for a campaign to help refugees in the Congo and although I knew the short version of his life I had been curious as to the whole story. I asked him if I could interview him about his life and how he got to where he is today. This interview is him telling his story of fleeing the violence in the Congo and wanting to make the
world a better place. My friend Dylan Jet took these photos of Yves (we worked together before on the WCJ photoshoot and video) and you can see more of Dylan’s photographs on his Flickr.

I was never a fan of almond milk until I was at a friend of mines
house and she told me she made it herself. It was amazing. I love
making things from scratch so I had her show me how to make it. I
have not stopped making it since and everyone who comes over to my
house tries it and asks me to send them the recipe so here it is. It
    is super easy to do.

    Ingredients

    - 4 cups of water
    - 1 cup of almonds
    - 1 tablespoon Agave Nectar
    - Pinch of salt

    Tools
    - Blender
    - Cheese cloth

Step 1 – Soak raw almonds in water for 4 hours or over night

Step 2 – Put 4 cups of water in the blender with 1 cup of almonds, 1
tablespoon Agave and pinch of salt

    Step 3 – Blend for 10 minutes

Step 4 – Strain through cheese cloth into a pitcher

    Step 5 – Enjoy!
