One of the cities you simply HAVE to visit before you can judge Europe is Barcelona, Spain. It’s full of fun and we can now be proud to say that we have our own Volcom Store in the heart of this beautiful, crazy city at Carrer de la Canuda, 35, 08002 Barcelona. I would go ahead and say it’s Europe’s best shop so far, really showing the best sides of Volcom and the multiple facets of our brand. Art, music, creative design and fashion. Barcelona is a great place for shopping, both new and vintage so it was about time to get our stone into the mix.
A week ago I had the pleasure of flying down for our opening party and also met with our new PR agency. Some very hectic but once again unforgettable 20 hours in Barcelona. Literally in-n-out.
After a productive meeting in the morning, lunch was enjoyed together with the PR crew at a typical Spanish seafood restaurant; Restaurante Balmes Marisqueria (Carrer de Balmes, 413 08022 Barcelona). It was composed of lots of gossip for starters, black rice (with octopus ink), paella, squid tapas locally known as chipirones, bruschetta and lots of tasty white wine… with full stomachs we continued down town to prepare the shop.
The event itself started later in the evening with a signing together with our team skaters Javier Sarmiento, Roberto Alemán, Axel Cruysberghs, Mark Appleyard and Suski Regalaban. A local band, The Mentals took care of the live music and a great set of old and new friends and Volcom lovers stopped by throughout the evening.

Before putting on the sixth gear of Barcelona party mode, we moved to our friends bar LaLOLA to have some more beers, cocktails and food. Great place to kick-start an evening. Not only do they make great cocktails but the crew that works there will make you feel at home in an instant and I bet you, ensure an unforgettable night. Just stay ‘til they close and continue out with the best guides in town..

The final party of the night was at Bollocks. A ROCK bar where the drinks kept flowing into the very very late night just long enough to directly catch a very early 7am flight back to the office in Anglet, France.
As a cherry on the top for those living in or visiting Barcelona – the store has an insane Girls selection.
The SEED and Malika Favre, Volcomunity collection’s have been flying out the door.
Keep your eyes out for new shop openings in Chamonix and Les 2 Alpes, France later this month.
