Designer Isabel Marant just seems authentically cool. Her personal style is relaxed and she’s got the gorgeous, make-up free, French woman look down pat. Her collections each season seem to be more focused on creating a style than obsessing over trends. The pieces are a perfect mix of comfort and style, and can be easily paired with items you already own.

Marant first started sewing at the age of 15 after growing frustrated with what was available in stores. At the ripe young age of 22 she began launching her own collections, and in 1994 her own label. When designing, Isabel has always stayed true to herself, creating pieces that she would want to wear; “My clothes are for everyday life. They are timeless and always about comfort and shape.”

Whenever I think of French fashion, Isabel always comes to mind.

“Key words for me are always discretion, style and attitude. But, above all, comfort. If a French girl has to go out, she is going to start by dressing up, then at the last minute, she’s going to grab the old jeans that she was wearing all day and say, F*** it! I feel more like this. That’s really what my fashion is all about.” – Isabel Marant

“You can’t put together a formula for how to look gorgeous – it’s a question of personality. You shouldn’t just become a hanger for a label.” – Isabel Marant

“My ideal woman is Serge Gainsbourg. Not that he was a woman.”- Isabel
