color me nana // digging deep

I spent a day last weekend thrift shopping around Philadelphia and strolling through the city streets with friends. Natalie was in town, and we all made a point to come out with at least one really great vintage piece to keep in our closets forever. What I love most about thrift stores is the not-so-thought-out randomness of it all. You never know what you might find beneath all the junk. Digging deep is all part of the glory of the find. There is a jewel to be sought somewhere. One of my favorite places to make a pit stop at on a good thrift day is Philly Aids Thrift right off South Street. A rough-and-tumble mix of everything from vintage clothes to brand new Asian comics, this place is always exciting to lay your eyes upon. There is a weirdness about it’s funky decor that really draws me in and makes me smile. A monster headed bride? Check. A twinkling light covered naked body? Check. Beaded doorways? Check. A shopping experience that makes you look twice while you dig for the deals is always an A+ in my book.
