In this week’s edition of Blogger We Love, we are featuring the beautiful and effortlessly chic Laura Ellner from the fashion blog On The Racks. This San Franciscan originally from SoCal dresses to the beat of her own drum, unafraid to experiment with fashion in any shape or form. Her gutsy outlook on personal style lends her looks a worldly flair that we just can’t get enough of! She inspires us to be unique with what we wear every single day! It is no wonder that she has been recognized and noticed by the major fashion big wigs at Teen Vogue, Glamour, Nylon, and Refinery 29.
Here, Laura has styled our Trailblazer Dress Skirt from our upcoming Summer 2011 collection. This piece is unique in that it can be worn in more ways than just one. Laura decided to go the more unexpected route and wear it as a dress, pulling and shaping it together with an edgy black studded belt. With her mysteriously brimmed had and standout heels, Laura’s created an ensemble that is mind-blowingly chic! We love this girl! Get to know Laura a little bit more below!
Where are you from and what do you do? Born and raised in California! I lived in Orange County until I moved to San Francisco for college, and I have been here ever since. I’m Marketing Coordinator at ShopItToMe.com and I spend most of my free time blogging, shopping, eating, drinking, and hanging out with my boyfriend and our dog.
Why did you start your blog? I started my blog because I was looking for an outlet. I have always known that I love fashion, but blogging has given me a way to express my passion in a somewhat concrete way. It also encourages me to challenge myself and be more creative on a day-to-day basis.
What are three words that describe your personal style? Eclectic, simple, edgy
How would you describe the quintessential Volcom girl (from what you know of the brand), and how do you fit in to this description? I think the quintessential Volcom girl is someone who cares about style but doesn’t take things too seriously. She is carefree and likes to enjoy life! I think I fit into this description because while I do love clothes, it is more about expression and sharing who I am and what I’m feeling than anything else. Comfort and fun come first.
What inspires your fashion choices the most? I love looking through magazines and I follow tons of awesome fashion bloggers! Most of all I just like to mess around with my clothes and play dress up, though – trying out different combinations to see what works best for me.
What is your favorite fashion quote and why? I have so many! My favorite for spring is “When in doubt wear red” -Bill Blass. I am trying to embrace color.
What are your top 5 spring season fashion essentials? A pair of colored jeans (pink, teal, red), a cute sunhat, a maxi skirt or two, fun sunglasses, and a killer pair of platform sandals
Who is your ultimate fashion icon and why? I don’t think I could ever pick just one! I love Edie Sedgwick, Alexa Chung, and Kate Moss, to name a few.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be and why? Laying on a beach somewhere with a giant cocktail in hand. I think it is hard to escape day-to-day responsibilities and stress, and everyone needs an actual break every once in a while — away from phones and computers and all of that!
Dream job (other than being the amazing, well-known blogger you already are!)? I have pretty much no clue! I know that it’s something that involves fashion and styling, but so far I am just taking things as they come and enjoying the ride.
